IL GELATO DI SAN CRISPINO

Glacier
4.7/5
7 reviews

Just a stone's throw from the Trevi Fountain, a very good gelateria that competes fiercely with the historic Giolitti in the Pantheon. And with good reason: the ice creams here are also very good, all homemade, with unusual tastes and carefully selected quality ingredients (Sardinian honey, Amalfi lemon, fresh walnuts...). Gelati to discover. Another address in Rome's Prati district, via Giuseppe Gioacchino Belli, 43.

GELATERIA DELLA PALMA

This great glacier in the modern garden also has its followers. It certainly offers the largest choice of perfumes from all over the city, including a dozen different chocolates, from ice to yoghurt, soy… But beware of the line, many are prepared for cream (not milk!).

PALAZZO DEL FREDDO GIOVANNI FASSI

Glacier

It is the oldest glacier in the city, it has existed since 1880! A reason to get lost in this little tourist district around Piazza Vittorio Emanuele. The Romans love its homemade ice cream and many will tell you that it is one of the best glaciers in the city. In our opinion, Fassi's advantage lies more in its very large premises, which allow you to sit down and take a well-deserved break before heading for Termini!

CIURI CIURI

This ice-cream parlour and patisserie delights the inhabitants of the Monti district with its Sicilian sweets. In addition to the ice creams, the island's cakes are also very popular:cassata siciliana, cioccolato di Modica, pasticini di mandorla... made with almonds and ricotta, this is a culinary voyage in itself! As all this is very sweet, and you can't always over-indulge in the good stuff (and in Italy, that's much harder than elsewhere!), miniature versions are also available. Another in Rome, via Labicana 126/128, not far from the Colosseum.

AI TRE SCALINI

Straight into Piazza Navona, an address that, behind its tourist mask, hides an authentic soul and a well justified reputation: its frozen tartufo (chocolate ice cream covered with biscuit, cream and cocoa powder) is the best in Rome. To be enjoyed on the terrace, if you are willing to pay the price

GELATERIA DEL TEATRO

A very traditional gelateria where the ice cream is made in front of you, behind a window. There is a wide choice of flavours, from the most classic (pure chocolate, pistachio, stracciatella...) to the most original (white chocolate with basil, raspberries and sage or lavender and white peach). Fruit ice creams are also particularly recommended, such as Amalfi silt, organic lemon ice cream from the Amalfi coast. A good gelateria in the center. Another address in Rome, along the Tiber, lungotevere dei Vallati, 25.

ROSATI

Glacier

A bar, ice cream parlour and patisserie since 1922, Rosati is located in one of Rome's prettiest squares: the Piazza del Popolo. Like the Parisian Café de Flore, many Roman artists used to meet here: from the poet Trilussa to the writer Alberto Moravia, not forgetting Federico Fellini. We go to Rosati's for a coffee, but avoid the restaurant, which doesn't really uphold the establishment's reputation. If we mention Rosati in this guide, it's more for its location and history, as prices are high and service is a little rushed.

FLOR

Glacier

Under their metal lids, the ice creams, with their many original flavors, are skilfully worked with a spatula, before being served, in large quantities, on small cookie cones. And, as with many gelaterias in Rome, don't hesitate to ask for the extra whipped cream(panna)! Flor is also a master in the art of fresh yoghurt, with fruit or plain. You'll also find pastries(tiramisù, crostata...). An ice cream parlour to discover, conveniently close to the forums and the Colosseum.

GELATERIA OLD BRIDGE

Glacier

You will have a little ice cream after your visit to the Vatican museums? For more than 20 years, this tiny glacier has been a delight for tourists and Romans in the area with its seasonal ice creams served in generous proportions and made with fresh, high-quality products. Given its rather privileged situation, the line is sometimes long. But if you're not in too much of a hurry, you can enjoy the orange, mint and amaretto flavours, which are a must, just like mango ice cream! The house also offers tasty yoghurts.

An amazing and romantic story for this glacier that came from the Dolomites and arrived in Rome for love. His passion for ice cream made him so famous that he opened 3 points of sale. A reputation wisely consolidated thanks to the quality of its controlled raw materials, most of which come from small craftsmen. A careful selection of its basic products such as water from the Dolomites, organic milk and strictly seasonal fruits is the basis of its success. The flavors are multiple and particular, just choose!

NEVE DI LATTE

Glacier

Neve di latte is one of our favorite ice cream parlors in Rome. The ice cream is creamy, the flavors are tasty and seasonal. As an added bonus, the brand makes a point of reducing its sugar content to a minimum, and offers vegan and gluten-free alternatives. We particularly recommend the chocolate-based flavors, which are to die for, as well as peanut and salted caramel. Many fruit sorbets are also available. And, as in every Roman gelateria , don't forget to ask for panna (whipped cream) on your ice cream!

VENCHI

Glacier

The temple of chocolate and gelati. Vencchi, which has been in business since 1878, delivers justly mastered sweets. Its Roman store is a pleasant stop to sweeten your mouth between two visits. If you have to choose, we advise you to first give in to the call of chocolate: the chocolate candies or the spread (with IGP Piedmont hazelnuts and olive oil!) are a success. As for ice cream, the choice is impressive, with many flavors available, including the delicious pistachio ice cream from Bronte.

COME IL LATTE

Glacier

A very good gelateria of Rome, where it is very difficult to choose its favorite taste! Caramelized peanuts, chocolate, raspberry ricotta... the choice is vast and the quality is there. The main ingredient here is fresh milk, which makes up 60% or even 70% of the creamiest flavors. The artisanal cone is made in front of you and, as a bonus, you can add melted chocolate inside. Of course, we won't forget to ask for whipped cream to top it all off! A delicacy that we can't get enough of.
