It's one of the biggest attractions on Haight Street. Opened in 1997, seven years after the original in Berkeley, Amoeba Music has built a solid reputation for variety and cutting edge selection. Sure, it's a far cry from the small alternative record store, given the touristy feel of the neighborhood, but there's still an impressive selection of albums. Several hundreds of thousands of vinyls are at your disposal, from the latest hyper-commercial novelty to the album distributed in 500 copies. Concerts are also regularly organized.
