This hotel, built in 1902, is one of the very first large hotels in San Francisco

Built in 1902, the Majestic Hotel is one of San Francisco's very first grand hotels. Located in the Victorian neighborhood of Pacific Heights, it was miraculously spared by the 1906 earthquake. The historic elevator is a museum piece. The rooms are decorated in an atypically old-fashioned style, with four-poster beds adorned with draped fabrics and tapestries inspired by the 1920s. You'll appreciate the high ceilings, the breakfast included and the cocktail bar. At this level of luxury, service is excellent.

It's just like it should be, it was way better than what we had expected. We spent 2 nights and really enjoyed it. It was nostalgic. They mixed up our room but made it up and the staff was super nice, pleasant and helpful. Also on the fourth floor there is a haunting of a girl named lisa, it gave the hotel a nice and fun touch, it was like a fascinating story. If you go you should ask about the girl named Lisa at the front desk. Not far from the hotel is a mall, which is nice and pleasant.

Highly recommend. This is an old hotel, but I like old houses etc. It is clean, quiet, and my bath seemed recently renovated. The wood furnishings have wear, and the heat/AC source is a window unit. I had cold nights but the heat worked well and was pretty quiet. I had a room with a great bay window and nice views. Dorm fridge and Dish TV with lots of channels. The location is excellent. In 15 mins. or less you can safely walk to some of the best restaurants in Japantown, Lower Pac Heights, etc. I might suggest you ask for the top (5th) floor as I had, because the old floors creak, and I was glad to not have anyone above me. The included breakfast was the typical fare (scrambled eggs, a waffle station, fresh fruit, cereal, yogurt) and was good. 24 hour Keurig station in the lobby. A small bar at night if you want a drink or some pretzels, etc.

i can't give it 5 stars but i have a fondness after one stay. the rooms are very very small, but they have actual wood furnishings and the entire place has a sense of charm. the location is rare if you are having a night out there is street parking near which makes the entire thing even cheaper. didn't try the breakfast.
