NOTRE DAME CHAPEL
Chapel where you can admire a collection of 12 Flemish paintings by Abel Grimmer dating from 1592 and the high altar in white marble from Italy.
The first Notre-Dame chapel was built in the 16th century. It was restored in the 19th and 20th centuries. Inside, you'll find a collection of 12 Flemish paintings, dating from 1592 and signed by Abel Grimmer, a painter recognized at the time as being on a par with Bruegel. Other highlights include the 16th-century statue of Notre-Dame de Montfaucon and an altarpiece in white Italian marble, surrounded by Louis XIII-style moldings and columns in 24 different marbles. The Notre-Dame statue, measuring 75 cm, was carved in stone. She is still venerated by the local population, but also by pilgrims to St Jacques and St Régis. For guided tours of the collection of 12 Flemish paintings, contact Mme Rouma on 06.89.88.05.29.
