This Aksumite monastery is located 500 m from the tombs of Kaleb and Gebre Meskel, and was founded by Abba Liganos, one of Syria's nine saints (actually born in Constantinople and who evangelized the region in the 6th century). Unfortunately the new church has no interest, the old one having been destroyed by the Derg, but there remains a pillar of the baptismal font still visible.
