Paberžė is a small village at the confluence of the rivers Liauda and Nikis, 32 km north of Kėdainiai which houses a museum in honour of the 1863 rebellion against the tsar (open from 10 h to 17 h, 4 Lt). A. Mackevicius, who was a priest in Paberžė from 1856 to 1863, was one of the leaders of the 1863 uprising. In 1858, he built a wooden church that one can visit. Since 1966, when a Capuchin, Father Stanislovas (1918-2005), was assigned to Paberžė, this small village became an object of attraction. The church housed the strange collection of Father Stanislovas, who died in 2005: carved wooden cross, priest dresses, books of prayers, bells, pots and numerous liturgical utensils. This collection is now stored in a nearby attic.
