NATIONAL LACE CONSERVATORY WORKSHOP
Workshop National Conservatory of Lace of Puy-en-Velay housing a national conservatory of music and fine arts.
The Atelier Conservatoire National de la Dentelle, created in 1976, is attached to the general administration of the Mobilier National, under the supervision of the French Ministry of Culture. Its mission is to maintain and perpetuate the excellence of bobbin lace-making. The works created by the lacemakers, based on models by contemporary artists (drawings, paintings, design concepts, 3D models), enrich the collections of the Mobilier National and are exhibited in prestigious venues (the French Republic, contemporary art exhibitions, etc.); they illustrate the vitality of the art of lacemaking in the 21st century. The workshop is open to visitors, and the lacemakers present their projects and answer questions. The workshop has also produced polyethylene-fiber knee prostheses for use in reconstructive surgery.
