Museum space featuring all aspects of Le Monastier's history.
Discover the daily life of Benedictine monks and part of the AbbAtiAl treasure trove (12th-century reliquary bust of Saint Chaffre, 6 15th-century paintings, 7th- and 9th-century Byzantine fabrics). The history of Le Monastier and the surrounding area is presented using digital tablets, films and numerous teaching aids. You'll follow in the footsteps of Benedictine monks, characters who have left their mark on the history of our region (Robert Louis Stevenson, Laurent Eynac, Saint François Régis), as well as beates and lacemakers. You'll also relive the history of the Transcévenole, a railway line that was never completed, and the construction of the fantastic Recoumène viaduct, also worth a visit.
