Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille is located between Le Puy-en-Velay and the Mézenc highlands, at the gateway to the Monts d'Ardèche Regional Nature Park, at an altitude of 950 meters. It is classified as a "Petites Cités de Caractère", thanks to its monastic and historical past: abbey castle, Saint-Jean-Baptiste church, Saint-Chaffre abbey church, fountains, washhouses, museums, etc. It's also the starting point for the famous GR70 hiking trail. Many hikes are possible on the plateaux, including the Meyzous plateau, through pastures and meadows, in forests or in the valleys with a donkey, to catch a glimpse of the Mézenc silhouette and discover the surrounding area.
