Museum of Popular Beliefs in Le Monastier-sur-Gazeille, featuring paintings, photos, sculptures and objects.
The Musée des Croyances Populaires (Museum of Popular Beliefs) is housed on the first floor of a 16th-century château. It's based largely on collections made from very old people who have spent their entire lives on the Velay plateaux, in isolated farmhouses. These individuals were interviewed about the tales, legends, superstitions and stories of ghosts and witchcraft they heard as children. Through hundreds of objects, paintings and figurines created in Patrice Rey's unique style, you'll discover that local heritage is often universal. Paintings, photos, sculptures and antiques are also on display.
