VIADUC DE LA RECOUMÈNE
A railway bridge not to be missed, France's highest masonry viaduct with a tourist trail for walking, cycling and horseback riding
It will blow out its 100th candle in 2025! A happy anniversary for this railway bridge, which has never seen a train. It is the highest masonry viaduct in France, and the last to be built entirely of stone (basalt, the local rock). Part of a tourist trail for walkers, horse riders and mountain bikers, it towers over the river from a height of over 60 metres. Bungee jumping and a zip-line course are also on offer. This lightweight technological marvel was listed as a historic monument in 1989.
