16 km to the west of Ragusa, Vittoria, founded in 1607 by the widow of the Earl of Modica, Countess Vittoria Colonna Henriquez, is the most recent of the communes of the province of Ragusa. It extends its long, monotonous streets, with a mixture of baroque, neoclassical or Art nouveau monuments. The mother church, Piazza Fernando Ricca, has an original façade and a rich interior decoration. On Piazza del Popolo is the church Santa Maria delle Grazie, which has a harmonious limestone facade. And then there is a castello, that of the countess, of course. Today Vittoria is mainly known for its numerous cellars and quality wines, as well as the production of flowers, greenhouses or in a protected environment.
