The town of Kasese is not particularly charming. However, it has the advantage, for the impecunious backpacker who cannot afford a night in a lodge, of having cheap accommodation near the parks (Rwenzori and Queen Elizabeth). There is no problem concerning the supply since the city has a myriad of small shops, banks, gas pumps... As for the economy, the cement factory in Hima and the cobalt and copper mines, currently in limbo, in Kilembe are important sources of employment
