Lyantonde has no intrinsic charm, however this city of fifteen thousand inhabitants can be an opportune "supply" break on the Masaka-Mbarara axis since banks, service stations and small shops are present. It can also be a stopover on the road to Kigezi or a pied-à-terre for those wishing to visit the Lake Mburo National Park, whose entrance is located about thirty kilometres to the southwest. Ideal for a getaway off the beaten track, the bucolic countryside surrounding the town is made up of agricultural and pastoral land where cattle, led by ankolated cows, abound.
