Lake Muhazi has nothing to compare with Lake Kivu or even the northern lakes, but it represents a pleasant stop on the Akagera road. This lake, 60 km long and 5 km wide, has an amazing shape. By car, it is possible to reach its shores by the multiple tracks that run in the hills from Rwamagaba, Nsinda, Gahini, Gakenke, Kiziguro, on the Kigali-Gabiro road, or by Rwesero, Rutare, Cyuru, on the road from Kigali to Byumba, with each time exceptional views. It takes a good hour from Kigali to cover the 75 km of slightly winding asphalt road.
