Artificial island with a public garden and a green park on the Hudson River hosting free events

Little Island is further proof that the Meatpacking District has become the design district par excellence. Designed by Heatherwick Studio, also behind the Vessel, this public garden is set on an artificial island in the Hudson River. The park isn't very large, but it's verdant, with perfectly manicured lawns and plantings arranged around paths. It rests on structures on stilts, whose varying heights give it relief. Little Island features a stage for free events.
