MANHATTAN BRIDGE
Magnificent suspension bridge in Manhattan ideal for crossing on foot or by bike with an untimely passage of the subway
This magnificent suspension bridge with its grey-blue steel piers links Manhattan to Brooklyn, just like its famous neighbor, the Brooklyn Bridge. Built between 1901 and 1909, it stretches from the Lower East Side's border with Chinatown, linking the DUMBO district with Brooklyn, on the other side of the East River. You can cross it on foot or by bike - it's much less crowded than the Brooklyn Bridge, but the inopportune passage of the subway makes for a rather tedious stroll! The Manhattan Bridge was immortalized on the poster for the film Once Upon a Time in America (1984).
