WOOLWORTH BUILDING
A 57-story, 241-meter-high skyscraper with an ornate facade and a dazzling neo-Gothic lobby.
At 241 m tall and fifty-seven storeys high, this skyscraper was the world's tallest when it was inaugurated in 1913, and remained so until 1930. The story goes that billionaire Frank W. Woolworth invested the modest sum of $15 million in its construction, which he paid in small coins, nickels and dimes set aside for the occasion. The building is famous for its ornate facade, reminiscent of a Gothic waterfall. The neo-Gothic entrance hall is simply stunning.
