Almohad watchtower used to reinforce the Alcazar walls and control river traffic in Seville.

Here's another emblematic Seville building, located on the banks of the Guadalquivir. Built in the 13th century, this Almohad watchtower served to reinforce the Alcázar's walls by controlling river traffic, and every evening the Moors would stretch out a huge chain linked to another tower on the other bank. The small tower that crowns it was once adorned with golden azulejos, which is said to have given it its name. Today, it houses a maritime museum, where you can explore the interior of the tower and learn more about Seville as a port.

La tour est petite donc la visite est rapide. Mieux vaut y aller lorsque le temps est dégagé car l'accès au sommet de la tour offre un panorama sur la ville.
*Attention: closed after midday! the cruise boats coming nearby are very noisy.
