Bako is an excellent introduction to the primary forest of East Malaysia. Established in 1957, it is the oldest and smallest of Sarawak's national parks, but also one of the most interesting, as it contains all Borneo's vegetation types, with 7 different ecosystems: beach, cliff, moor, mangrove, dipterocarp forest, grassland, peat forest and swamp. It is also home to a varied fauna, whose most popular inhabitants are the nasiques, tree-dwelling monkeys with long nasal appendages. Bako is pleasant to explore and the atmosphere is peaceful. Take the time to spend at least one night here to enjoy it to the full.
