The last home of the Mirabal family houses the museum in memory of the three sisters, mythical heroines of the country and martyrs of the Trujillo dictatorship. They were murdered with their driver on the road between Puerto Plata and Tenares, returning from a visit to their husbands imprisoned for dissidence in Puerto Plata. Numerous books and films recount their commitment and sacrifice for freedom and human rights.
