The first telegraph station rehabilitated in Savoy at the request of Napoleon, it is one of the 33 stations linking Lyon to Turin.

Le Télégraphe Chappe is located a stone's throw from the mills and the Vanoise National Park. It's worth the trip. This first station, rehabilitated in Savoie in 2010, is nestled in a forest setting. Between 1806 and 1814, it was one of 33 substations linking Lyon to Turin, a line built at Napoleon's request. It is named after the physicist Claude Chappe, who in 1790 developed the telegraph. Put into service in 1806, its optical mechanism, combined with a specific vocabulary, allows confidential messages to be sent by displaying 92 different signals.... It is located at an altitude of 1,800 m, and today visitors can learn a lot about this ingenious invention. What does the system say about Milan? The guided tour will give you all the answers.
