It takes place every 5 years (the years in 0 or 5), but it had been postponed in 2021 before being cancelled again and postponed in... 2025. Even if the production of muslin has been relocated, the inhabitants of Tarare remain attached to this festival which celebrates what made the wealth and the fame of the city. The first festival took place at the end of the 19th century, on the occasion of the inauguration of the statue of Georges-Antoine Simonet who brought muslin to Tarare. The multicolored muslin sails float in the city, street entertainment, artistic events follow one another, a parade of floats and a thousand extras closes the festivities.
