The Association des Amis du Vieux Saint-Rambert, which opened the museum, opened the doors to the public in 1965 with the presentation of objects of local ethnography, including Saint-Rambert's famous prothonotary. From the following year, thanks to the donation of the personal collection of Madeleine Rousseau, composed mainly of African coins, the museum is moving towards what will be its favourite area: civilizations. Daniel Pouget's numerous trips complete this collection with numerous objects from Asia, America and Oceania. Over time, the museum receives numerous donations: Mathonet dedicated to Japan and China, Certu to caricatures and press drawings… In this former priory you can browse the collections of art and traditions of Asia, Oceania and North America. And if you are tempted to continue your exploration, nothing prevents you from browsing the 3 levels of reserves, accompanied by a audioguide.

Le musée ne paie pas de mine ! Pour autant, les expositions sont intéressantes et bien pensées. L'exposition sur les réserves du musée est instructive.
