Open Monday to Saturday, 6.30am to 7pm.
After ten years of experience in the Bakery, Pastry and Chocolate industry, in France (and abroad) for Emilien, and in management for Julien, the project of setting up our own business has matured over the years.
Although the city of Saint-Etienne already has some very good artisan bakers and pastry chefs, the interest in locating our bakery-pastry shop-tea room in one of the city's busiest thoroughfares seemed obvious to us.
After 2 years in the R&D department of the WEISS® Chocolate Factory, Emilien was beginning to miss his bakery and pastry shop - his first love -!
The administrative and financial component of such a project was the last "brake" to be put in place. Julien then joined the adventure to take over the administrative management of the company.
The "CHEZ JEAN" adventure was launched...
Our goal is simple and has been with us from the beginning:
"To offer quality products and 100% home-made, while promoting as much as possible local products (flours, fruit & vegetables for garnishing, drinks served at the tea room...)".
CHEZ JEAN's motto is "Healthy eating is a legacy".
Heritage to which we wanted to pay homage by choosing the first name of 3 of our grandfathers for the name of our sign:
- Jean DEYGAS, baker in Quintenas (07)
- Jean JEANETTI, founder of the company SAGRA in Rivas (42)
- Jean ROUCHOUZE, farmer in Thélis-la-Combe (42)
Each one of us has passed on to us in his or her own way the values that make us what we are today. We have a taste for work well done, respectful of people and nature.
We are one of the 20% of bakeries in France that still (all) make their own pastries. Our strategy is to implement as many actions as possible to make this known (RS, display, pedagogy...) in order to alert consumers to the importance of knowing the origin of the products they consume.
