What is the Grand Traversée des Alpes? 6 major itineraries, more than 4,000 km of trails, paths, tracks and roads to discover the French Alps. 8,000 km in total, with the Via Alpina routes outside France, and 300 referenced accommodations. The most mythical route is the one from Lake Geneva to the Mediterranean, originally conceived by the Touring Club de France and whose inaugural excursion took place in July 1911. There are now 730 kilometers to cover (main itinerary and variants) by bike, motorcycle or car, through 18 prestigious passes and the most beautiful panoramas of the French Alps, as well as the Route des Lavandes, a marked trail adapted for mountain bikes.
