Museum presenting the first French collection of alpine minerals and mountain fauna, various treasures are also exposed.

The wonders of the Alps are not just the snow-covered slopes, but the natural resources of an exceptional territory. Dive with the whole family into the depths of the Alps, and discover France's first collection of Alpine minerals and mountain fauna. A collection accompanied by many other treasures perfectly displayed in a museum set in a magical location: the air-conditioned attic (important in summer) of the former Saint-Laurent church in the heart of Bourg-d'Oisans. A fascinating tour of the superb crystals extracted from the region's mines. Dazzled by the beauty of quartz from the Gardette mines and other stones with incredible shapes and colors, visitors discover the work of crystal makers in the "Des cristaux et des hommes" exhibition. Children can also have fun learning about mineralogy. The "Life in the Carboniferous Period" exhibition takes visitors back in time to recreate the landscapes of this period, 300 million years ago! Still linked to nature, the museum presents the fauna of the Alps. Produced in collaboration with the Ecrins National Park, this presentation allows visitors to observe 140 animal species in their natural environment, complete with sound effects. Visitors can also take home souvenirs from the Musée des Minéraux et de la Faune des Alpes, including a store selling minerals and local products. The museum will be undergoing major renovations to better showcase its collections. To be discovered in spring 2025!
