Convent of the Carmelites, residence of the Dauphins with vestiges, retracing the history of the Dauphins of France and the origins of the Dauphiné.

An exceptional site in Dauphiné. Residence of the Dauphins, the Carmelite Convent was built on the site of the former castle of Beauvoir. After a superb restoration, one can discover today a varied content of great quality to go to the discovery of the history of the Dauphins of France and the origins of Dauphiné. The historical journey from the 14th century to the present day reveals all the richness of the site: remains, buildings, garden, orchard, exhibition. In the exhibition part, you will discover step by step all the history of the Dauphins, lords of the Dauphiné, as well as the collection of César Filhol, relayed to the Convent by the association of the Friends of the old Beauvoir. Also to be seen, the permanent exhibition of the painter Bob ten Hoope who has magnificently painted the Vercors as well as an annual temporary exhibition. The visit continues in the medieval garden, where you will discover plants and flowers, as well as a conservatory orchard maintained by the association Les Fruits du Verger. Your visit will undoubtedly end at the gastronomic restaurant Au roman du Vercors which puts forward local products in a modern and creative kitchen.

Site magnifique et bien restauré, repas bon rapport qualité / prix avec des produits locaux. A visiter aussi le village qui est très joli avec une boulangerie biologique (lepaindebeauvoir) qui fait du très bon pain.
