Most of the first floor of this building (the end near the river) has been under renovation for two years (based on the giant sign out front near the river) & the place above the construction site on the second floor is rented as an Airbnb. The surrounding renovation isn't disclosed in the rental. So the building security isn't standard, among other things, and there are likely additional safety issues since the floor is held up by temporary steel supports.

It's beautiful architecturally and really central in Chamonix and has been going on for years, so even people who live near Les Grands Montets know about this renovation, but apparently the real estate agents just a few blocks away are oblivious.

Un peu petit mais il y a quelque chose d'intéressant. J'ai aimé les outils d'alpinisme exposés pour comprendre l'évolution des matériaux. Musée bien conçu qui permet une approche sympa et compléte de ce qu'est la
montagne et pour les passionnés de minéralogie surtout ne pas manquer le musée des cristaux

the museum is located in the heart of the city: at the entrance if you have a pass holiday offered by hotel, do not hesitate to show it, you will have a small discount.

When the entrance is paid, Ci houses two museums. (museum of minerals).

This museum has a first floor, it is very full.

You will discover the Alps photographs.

I recommend it but nothing more, however the exhibition of minerals is really unmissable!
