ALBA CASTLE

This castle, flanked by towers in the style of Grignan, is a landmark in the Alba landscape. Its origins date back to the ^11th century. The bishops of Viviers decided to build a square keep on the volcanic dyke of Alba, and to establish the seigneury of Aps. Restored in the 17th^century , the five-storey dungeon dominates the village. It still retains its medieval ramparts, old gates, watchtowers and towers. In summer, the building hosts a chamber music festival, jazz concerts, musicals and art exhibitions.
