Typical fountain, wash houses and fountains in Venasque, all with their own character

Laundries and fountains dot the village. Take a stroll through the village streets to discover your favorite. They all have their own character: massive and sober, sculpted... Until very recently, fountains and wash-houses played a vital role in the lives of the inhabitants. As the village stands on this high, rocky promontory, running water was only finally installed in the village between 1959 and 1965. Before that, everyone had to go to the fountain.

Un petite place triangulaire sur la rue principale sert d'écrin à une superbe fontaine octogonale en haut du village (intra muros). Elle vaut la photo en toute saison.
