Monument built in the century, the only vestige of the castle of Monteux, classified as a historical monument in 1910.
Did you know that the Clementine Tower is the only vestige of the castle of Monteux?
This monument was built in the 11th century but was destroyed by a fire in 1415. In the course of time, the demolition of the tower was frequently requested but never granted. It was classified as a Historic Monument on January 8, 1910. The name "Tour Clémentine" was given to it in honour of Pope Clement V, who was one of its owners and often stayed there. 28 m high, 8 m wide, its walls are up to 2 m thick. Its summit is lined with simple crenellations.

It is a pity that you can visit it or go up to the top to see the view. And do not worth a detour...
