Stroll through the pedestrian streets of Lourmarin and stop off at the Moulin shops. This is the annexe of the Hôtel Le Moulin de Lourmarin, the delicatessen where you can fill your basket with local Provencal products: tapenades, olive oils, wines, cheeses and charcuterie in the fresh section, jams and honeys, Marseille soaps and other drugstore items. At the counter, you can order a sandwich, a brownie, a pastry of the day or a coffee on the go.

The notoriety of Cavaillon's melons produced by Pierre Avon is no longer to be done. They grow in Lourmarin, but they can be found on some good lyonnaise and Parisian tables. Not hard to find, it's coming from Lourmarin, castle side towards Lauris-Puyvert. Fill your cart, count one for two people. Isabelle and Pierre also offer asparagus, strawberries, ancient tomatoes, figs and rosé. Products harvested daily, sale on the farm, detail, wholesale, half-fat.

In this beautiful shop, you will find all the wines of Domaine de Fontenille, located in Lauris. You will be delighted to taste them before choosing among the cuvées available in red, rosé and white. Already awarded wines (gold, silver and bronze during international, national and local competitions) for this estate which was taken over in 2013. On the shelves, you will find their vintages 2015 in red and 2016 in rosé and white. For more conviviality, you can settle at the bar around some good cheese and charcuterie boards. Epicurean!

For more than three centuries, the estate was shaped and run by a single Huguenote family. Then, thanks to Olivier Monod and his descendants - Jérôme Monod and his sons, helped by Yoann Malandain, the steward (a fan of biodynamics - he managed to preserve his founding family's requirements and taste for careful work. Made up of twenty hectares, vinified with care and patience, syrah, grenache, mourvèdre, vermentino, white grenache are fully expressed, to give rise to exceptional wines. Let's mention for pleasure Château Fontvert, a rosé organic wine from a black grenache blend (85%), mourvèdre (10%) and syrah (5%), where are mingling powerful aromas of red fruits, white peach and citrus fruits (wine from grapes in conversion to organic farming) and the pink Mourre, a biological wine from a selection of the best juice from direct pressing of grenache.

Here is a beautiful area of about twenty hectares of vineyards before arriving in Lourmarin. Their AOP Luberon wines are available in 3 ranges: the Tradition vintage in white, red and rosé, well-structured and easy to drink Vins de copains; the Prestige vintage for gastronomic, fine and complex wines; finally, a confidential wine aged in amphora that gives white wines of a solid core of minerality. If you plan to spend a few days in Luberon, you can stay at the castle. The owners transformed it into a guest house with 7 bedrooms, 2 living rooms and 2 kitchens. A beautiful swimming pool and a tennis court complement the offer.

AOC Luberon has the privilege of being fully registered inside the Luberon Regional Natural Park, recognised as biosphere reserve by UNESCO, and therefore shares the same objective: preserving the territory by promoting its harmonious economic development. The vines grow on the hillsides of the Luberon mountain, enjoying exceptional conditions for their development, with a Provencal climate mixed with Alpine influences. Thanks to these cooler nights in summer, the wines of the Luberon are naturally well-balanced. The wine growers have a wide range of grape varieties to compose their wines. Syrah and grenache, emblematic grape varieties of the Rhône Valley, constitute the majority of blends in red and rosé; White grenache and vermentino are widely used in white wine blending. Structured and generous, the rosé wines of the Luberon will surprise many by their freshness and nose of red fruit, and are ideal for accompanying white meats or exotic cuisine. Balanced and elegant, red wines are gourmet ones, with fruity aromas and with spicy finish. At a table, they will do wonders on red meats, dishes in sauce or seasoned. Another more concentrated red style also exists, with a velvety texture and aromas of cocoa and ripe black fruits, perfect on meat of character, such as the lamb of the Luberon. Fresh and aromatic, white wines are characterized by their liveliness in the mouth and their elegance, with dominant floral notes, perfect with fish and goat cheese from the region. "Tasting a wine from the Luberon is also a way of tasting our beautiful mountain ", as Joël Bouscarle, president of the Union des vignerons de l'AOC Luberon says.

Restored in the th century, the origins of Lourmarin Castle - which is part of the region's three major residences - are lost in the history of the th century. Florian Girbal, a child of the country of wine, invested the castle cellars in 2006, after extensive renovation work and a degree from the University of Suze-la-Rousse in the pocket. It offers over references. Local appellation obliges, the wines of Luberon are majority: La Citadelle, Val Joanis, La Verrerie, Bastide du Clos, Ruffinato, Domaine de la Garelle, Château de Clapier… There are also good wines from the Rhone valley and the slopes of Aix.
