Château de Lacoste was once the residence of the famous Marquis de Sade. Every summer in July, a famous festival is held here.
The Château de Lacoste was the residence of the famous Marquis de Sade. Long clandestine and circulating under the cloak, the Marquis' works have been published since 1990 by La Pléiade. The Marquis spent 27 years of his life in prison. When he fled, he took refuge in his château de Lacoste. Reduced to ruins during the French Revolution, it was fashion designer Pierre Cardin who undertook its restoration. He created a festival of lyrical art and theater that brings the castle's quarries to life every summer in July with an eclectic program.
