Visit to discover a remarkable Cistercian abbey, full of history, with church and monks' dormitory in Gordes.

Sénanque Abbey was founded in 1148 by Cistercian monks. The church was consecrated thirty years later by the Bishop of Cavaillon. In the 13th and 14th centuries, the abbey enjoyed a period of economic prosperity and spiritual influence. In 1969, the monks moved to their mother house on the island of Saint-Honorat in Lérins, before returning to Sénanque in 1988. Here, they divide their time between prayer, work (growing lavender) and Benedictine hospitality.

Très belle abbaye
A vour sans hésiter. Très instructive visite guidée dans une très belle abbaye. Un sachet de lavande comme charmante attention lors d achat à la boutique qui propose une multitude de produits de la région dont certains produits par les abbayes.

Très belle abbaye et champs de lavande
Très belle abbaye gérée encore par les moines. Entrée payante pour la visiter mais accès gratuit pour se balader dans le parc et autour. La meilleure période pour la photographier est certainement vers juin/juillet, quand les lavandes sont en fleurs.

Pas de chance abbaye entourée d'un immense échafaudage, bonjour la photo.
Visite bien expliquée, mais très courte pour un prix trop élevé. L'endroit est magnifique mais impossible de s'imprégner de la quiétude des lieux car trop de monde.

Une belle abbaye
J'y suis allée plusieurs fois et cette abbaye est un incontournable, surtout lorsque les lavandes sont fleuries. La plus belle vue de l'Abbaye se trouve sur la route venant de Rognes (de mémoire), n'hésitez pas à vous arrêter au bord de la route pour profiter du paysage.

Je trouve la visite (guidée obligatoire)de l'abbaye un peu chère ... mais elle est assez complète.
