Papal residence where Pope Urban VIII sent his two cardinal nephews in 1647

La Pré Fantasti comes from the Provençal "Espirit Fantasti" which means fantastic spirit. It was to this papal residence that Pope Urban VIII sent his two cardinal nephews in 1647. The Barberini brothers, who practised alchemy, wanted to transform lead into gold and thus find the mythical "philosopher's stone". A dispute over their lucrative "elixir of life" trade resulted in one of them being murdered by the other.
