Le Fort, a fortified building dating back to the century in Buoux, where the three enclosures and the defensive wall can still be seen.

A Luberon fortress built on a rocky spur, the fort's exceptional strategic position controlled the only easy passage from the Luberon to Buoux in the Aiguebrun valley. Fortified as early as the 12th century, Catholics and Protestants fought over the site during the Wars of Religion, taking it in turn before Louis XIV ordered its dismantling, fearing that the fort would serve as a refuge for Huguenots. The view from the top of the rocky point at the foot of the keep is spectacular. A very instructive walk!

The setting of this fort is just spectacular, gorgeous and huge rocks. If you like rocks you gotta go. On top of that, put yourself in the history of this fort and the people who were there before us, including going back to the stone age. I was blown away. The climbing through the fort was steep and I wished I hadn't done an earlier hike. The secret stairs at the end not to be taken lightly.

Die Befestigungsanlagen von Buoux sind etwas Besonderes, die Kombination aus Landschaft, Ruinen des Mittelalters und Archäologie machen diesen Ort einmalig. Gute Schuhe für den gut 30 minütigen Aufstieg sind empfohlen. Die Bauabfolgen der Gesamtanlage sind recht schwierig nachzuvollziehen, die Unterburg sei ins 15 Jahrhundert zu datieren heisst es in der Literatur, die Kirche in der Mitte des Hochplateaus stammt wohl aus dem 13. Jahrhundert, älterer Vorgängerbau wahrscheinlich. Beeindruckend sind die Erdkeller, Zisternen aber auch die zahlreichen Gräben und Wälle und Befestigungen die das nächst höher gelegene Plateau noch besser vor feindlichen Angriffen schützen sollen. Zuoberst hat man einen phänomenalen Ausblick!

Malgré un accueil un peu rustre par la personne a l'accueil, cet endroit vaut le détour tellement le site est grand, les vestiges intéressants et la vue à couper le souffle. Attention au panneau indiquant l'entrée qui peut être trompeur (j'ai suivi la direction de la randonnée et non la direction indiquée par <<< ) et à la voie de sortie du site qui est assez accidentée (on longe le bas des remparts et cela se termine par un escalier assez vertigineux) mais vous n'êtes pas obligés de passer par là si vous ne le sentez pas ou si vous n'êtes pas équipés

Superbe lieu chargé d'histoire assez bien conservé après autant d'années d'existence. C'est assez pentu à gravir et la descente est tout aussi impressionnante pour des personnes non habituées. La visite vaut le détour car une fois en haut, le panorama est grandiose. A déconseiller avec des enfants en bas âge car peu sécurisé.
