Tower built from 1514 to 1524 by Italian engineer Jean-Antoine de la Porta, open to the public in summer.

Built from 1514 to 1524 by the Italian engineer Jean-Antoine de la Porta on the orders of Louis XII to protect against enemy instrusions. The "big tower" with its 60 meters in diameter and its 7 meters thick walls was the first defense work erected on the edge of the harbor. Occupied in 1942 by the Germans, it was almost destroyed by American bombing. It has been classified as a historical monument since 1947. It is open to the public in summer only, but take comfort in the walk around the site and the view over the harbour.
