Built in 1692 on the orders of Vauban, this tower was first named "Tour des Vignettes". It was in charge of preventing any enemy presence. It had its moment of glory in 1707 during the siege of Toulon by the ships of the Anglo-Spanish coalition, during the wars of succession to the Spanish throne to which King Louis XIV claimed. Totally destroyed, it was rebuilt in its original form and renamed "Fort Saint-Louis". Its burning is celebrated on August 15 with a magnificent fireworks display.
