A landscaped park close to the sea, with a botanical garden and a lake open to boat trips.

Located at the end of the second part of the Avenue du Prado near the sea, this 17-hectare park is a real haven of peace for the inhabitants of the district and passing Marseilles residents. Marcel Pagnol used to go there as a child and generations of little Marseilles children followed him. Dominated by an 18th century bastide (which houses the Borély Museum) and its formal gardens decorated with rectangular ponds, the 19th century landscaped park is completed by an 11,000m2 botanical garden, a small lake, open to boat rides and decorated with a shaded refreshment bar, and two playgrounds. At the exit of the park, a small wooden bridge that follows the bank of the Huveaune river marks the beginning of the walk of the same name that leads to the Velodrome Stadium, passing through the park of the dance school (Henri-Fabre park), appreciated by the boulistes, for its facilities, and by budding football players, for its large lawns. Depending on the season, Parc Borély now offers visitors a permanent exhibition of plants in thematic form: a garden of climbing plants, a garden of medicinal plants reconstructed from a cloister garden of the Middle Ages, a garden of succulent plants, a garden devoted to South African flora and its greenhouse, a Japanese garden... Parc Borély also hosts once a year the famous "Mondial de la Marseillaise", a renowned petanque competition. Its proximity to the beaches (direct access by a small path, follow the sign) makes it a haven of coolness in the middle of summer.
