Inseparable from Marseille and its typical gouaille, the fish market is above all a place where the catch of the day is sold.
Unbeatable, incomparable, unclassifiable. Every morning from 8am to about 1pm, this legendary Marseille fish market takes place, the successor of the old auction and a real picturesque postcard. You can get extra fresh fish from Marseille fishermen's night fishing. Octopuses, mackerel and other soles are found alongside sars, wolves, conger eels, groupers... But the biggest catches will undoubtedly be the very many tourists busy photographing the stalls with their mobile phones as well as the fishmongers with their well-hung tongues and proudly standing behind their benches. On this subject, remember to respect the exhibitors by limiting the photos.
