LES 3 PALMES

Cinema
3.7/5
6 reviews

The Les 3 Palmes multiplex in the Valentine's commercial area has 11 high-capacity cinemas equipped with Dolby Digital audio technology. It programs films for the general public in French: Hollywood blockbusters, all the production of French films, including comedies, children's animation films and 3D films in the majority. A very family-friendly, modern and practical American-style multiplex when you want to combine cinema and shopping in the nearby shopping centre, with a confectionery area, a games and leisure area with 30 machines. Restaurants next to the cinema (Hippopotamus and Dixie Blues). A little expensive but the quality of the infrastructure comes at a price. Supervised parking.

CINEMA LES VARIÉTÉS

Cinema
3.8/5
4 reviews

A place devoted to entertainment for 150 years, this historic cinema was first called Le Casino (1857) then Les Folies marseillaises (1878) before the construction of the Théâtre des Variétés in 1887, of which the facade sculpted by the architect Joseph Letz remains today. After an uncertain year 2016 and three years of struggle following the loss in 2013 of its Art et Essai label, the future of cinema was shaky, but finally the commercial court ruled and it was taken over by Jean Mizrahi (YMAGIS). Major renovations were undertaken in 2019 and it is now as good as new, while retaining its cachet. Renewed comfort, modernity, a major historical cinema to be supported for sure. Programming of major, alternative and documentary films. The culture of Marseilles is partly played out here.

IMAGES ET PAROLES ENGAGEES

Cinema

As its name suggests, you will not find the last blockbusters here, but rather program of documentaries, based on the life of people and the districts. In the era of the relative democratisation of access to video equipment, it is made the relais from small local producers and directors, and offers workshops to young people and less young people in the area. Images and Paroles Engagées is an association created in May 2001 domiciled in the 15th district in Marseille. To film people, simply! Such is the currency.

CINEMA LE MIROIR

Cinema

You have to enter the beautiful Old Charity centre to find this tiny movie that is a pure wonder. Those who practise films otherwise than for "dragouiller" Columbine will be in angels. No Hollywood staff. Cinema often takes place by theme and we loved the week devoted to Asian cinema, with Pm's masterpieces, Jia Zhang or Hong Sang Soo.

LA BALEINE

Cinma dart et essais

During Ju, we knew for a long time a whale that said wave. Today, we go to the Whale to go to the movies or to spend a good culinary moment in the adjoining bistro. Because the Whale of today, opened in 2018, is a cine-bistro that we appreciate a lot. A single room, great comfort, which hosts film debates, workshops or previews. On the movie program, classics, alternative films and current themes. Some sessions are reserved for young audiences. At the bistro, you can eat fresh and organic food. Nice proposals on the slate at lunchtime and tapas to share in the evening.

EUROPACORP LA JOLIETTE

Cinma multiplex

One of Marseille's latest cinemas, this multiplex has thought big. In a building designed by the artist Ora-Ïto, you'll find a blend of modernity and comfort. 14 screens and the best technological innovations. Among them, a Dolby Cinéma room, a 4DX room and a Premium area for those who want to live an intense experience. Special rooms like the Tediber for children or the Cocoon for lovers. Here, cinema is experienced to the full. It's beautiful and efficient. The staff are few and far between, however, and everything is automated, which is rather sad, but it has to be said that Marseille now has an ultra-modern cinema.
