In this museum, located in the birthplace of the founder of Félibrige, you will discover the entire world of the writer. From his statue, enthroned in an alleyway in the garden to the paintings and furniture, the soul of Mistral still floats in this beautiful Provencal farmhouse where he was born. This visit is a wonderful opportunity to immerse yourself in the purest Provençal culture by rediscovering memories of Mireille and the famous Treasure of Félibrige, a French-Provençal dictionary. Intéressante visite dans la maison de l'écrivain Frédéric Mistral, grand défenseur de la langue et de la culture provençales (voir félibre et félibrige).
Contrairement à beaucoup d'autres maisons d'écrivains ou musées, il ne s'agit pas d'une reconstitution mais la maison est meublée et décorée telle qu'elle l'était au décès de Mistral, et sa veuve a, conformément au souhait de l'écrivain, tout légué à la commune de Maillane.
La jeune guide qui fait la visite est très compétente et rend la visite très instructive.

For all those who want more on the language of Provence and its greatest defender, Frederi Mistral, visit the house where he lived from 1876 until his death in 1914 is a but discovery unrivalled. All the original furniture has been preserved: you can better realise the living conditions of this time! Guided tour (except Heritage Days): the description of the museum is worth the purchase!
