ST. BLAISE OPPIDUM
Oppidum of Saint-Blaise, one of the most complete sites of pre-Roman, Roman and early Christian archaeology in Provence.
Located in the commune of Saint-Mitre-les-Remparts, the Saint-Blaise archaeological site is little-known, but is one of the most interesting and complete examples of pre-Roman, Roman and early Christian archaeology in Provence. In terms of remains, it's a major site with Hellenistic fortifications of great beauty, a rare Gallic rock necropolis, dwellings in the upper and lower town and, last but not least, the Saint-Pierre d'Ugium church, a remarkable early Christian building in Provence. A small museum was recently inaugurated at the entrance to the site.
