Museum housing the collections bequeathed to the town by Georges Turpin, a Parthenais collector and art lover.
The Musée d'Art et d'Histoire de Parthenay invites you to discover a rich and diverse heritage, the result of numerous donations and acquisitions over the years. Among the treasures to be admired are medieval archaeological collections, 19th- and 20th-century earthenware and a showcase devoted to the pre-Gaul period. A real gem is the Jouneau reliquary, exhibited at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1889. The museum also offers temporary exhibitions, workshops and guided tours. There's also a gift store where you can take home a souvenir of your cultural experience.
