One of the classic local hikes, departing from the Quais de la Regratterie in Niort
The Coulée Verte is 11 km along the Sèvre from Niort to Magné, between the quays of La Regratterie (4 km) and a sandy path. Or take a stroll along the river's wild meanders and meadows via La Roussille, the largest of Niort's 9 locks and the (fairytale) home of the (equally fairytale) eponymous inn. You'll see evidence of the chamoiseurs of yesteryear: mooring bollards and sloping landings. By Coulée Verte, we also mean the 7 km half-marathon held in October: 5,000 runners, 15,000 spectators and cascading orchestras.
