This castle has 6 grandiose levels, monumental fireplaces, a series of lamp-ends of very high quality

A small jewel, this château was rebuilt in 1470 by the Scotsman Robert Cunningham, brother-in-arms of the Lord of Parthenay against the English, then captain of Louis XI's guard. The guided tour is a rich experience! You'll discover the castle's moat, keep-gate, towers and turrets. Inside, against a backdrop of Franco-Scottish relations, you enter the loggia rooms (splendid upturned ship's hull frame), reach the star-shaped keep, a masterpiece of its kind, and access the machicolated parapet walk and its humorously sculpted brackets.

Merveilleux endroit que ce château écossais...Passionnante visite avec l'ancien propriétaire des lieux, avec lequel la petite histoire se mêle à la grande histoire...un petit bijou...allez y vous en sortirez heureux ...????

Le château est vraiment magnifique à l extérieur et très intéressant à l intérieur. Son histoire n est pas commune, dû à son premier propriétaire et elle s étend sur plusieurs siecles.....on a adoré.
Et le guide est top, sympa et accessible.
Impossible d être déçu lors de cette visite ????.

Une superbe visite à faire. François est intarissable sur l'histoire du château et ses légendes. Un véritable voyage dans le temps et la mythologie locale. Ne dit-on pas que le château fût construit en une nuit par Mélusine ?
