LA SALINE
An observation area at the Salines, allowing visitors to discover the world of salt and the thousand-year-old history of Salies-de-Béarn.
At the Salines observation area, you'll discover how salt is made, with explanatory panels detailing each stage in the process, right through to marketing. From May to October, you'll be able to watch the harvesting of Salies-de-Béarn salt and fleur de sel using a landing net. In the museum area, the history of Béarn salt is told via an audioguide. This interactive space sheds light on the origins of the thousand-year-old white gold, from the legend of the wild boar to its current production, while highlighting its link with Bayonne Ham.
