This fortress, known as the "Witches' Fortress", is the oldest of its kind, dating back to the Middle Ages
Château des Sorcières". It was built in the Middle Ages, and the village grew up around it, becoming the administrative center of the Labourd region. Its Lords were bailiffs of the province from the 15th century until the fateful century when a member of the Bordeaux Parliament ordered numerous executions in the castle, the victim of a terrible witchcraft scandal. Time, however, has not taken its toll on the towers, which still stand today, unperturbed and timeless.
