Establishment with Japanese and Basque influences with Japanese cuisine in a space with Japanese culture.

Etxe Nami is an unusual surprise. This establishment draws on the best of local produce to serve you excellent traditional Japanese cuisine. In a 200 m² space, you'll find 2 distinct but closely linked areas, one cultural and the other gastronomic, faithful to Japanese culture in a zen, uncluttered atmosphere. In the plates, the eye and the taste offer themselves to you. If we tell you that the site is a tearoom, you won't be surprised to find some exceptional pastries. A hybrid place, with a subtle blend of different worlds.

On-site: Monday to Saturday - lunch from 12pm to 2pm - dinner from 7:30pm to 9pm Takeaway: lunch, bentô from 12pm to 2pm and evening à la carte. Cultural area open Tuesday to Saturday, 10am to 7pm. Lunch menus €10 to €20, dinner €26 to €30. Takeaway. Salon de thé - Epicerie fine - Soirées & privatisation/ boutique/ evening pesco-vegetarian restaurant.

In the (for me) overpriced overcrowded area that is the Basque seaside, this place stands out for providing lovely, innovative and amazing food for an honest price. Arriving early on a Saturday afternoon (off peak) we found places though it then quickly filled up. The server was friendly, polite and gave great recommendations which then quickly turned into steaming hot bowls of noodles and rice on our table!

I had the udon noodles which were cooked with squash, an exquisite combination, with an excellent soup base! We paired our meals with sides of sashimi (trout), fried cod and pork which was fusion at its best, marrying the fresh Basque ingredients with Japanese cooking styles.

This is the place to go if you are in the area! I will be coming back!
